Banking Trojans continued to be a major cybersecurity concern, with the Mamont banking Trojan family emerging as one of the most significant threats of the year, ranking fourth in the overall mobile threat landscape.

Cybercriminals in Russia used a new malware distribution scheme to target Android users, enticing victims with discounted products. Once users placed an order, they were sent phishing links disguised as tracking applications, secretly installing banking malware on their devices.

These Trojans exploit permissions abuse, requesting access to SMS (android.permission.RECEIVE_SMS) to intercept authentication codes.
